2014 Home Opener

 

Jake Schneider netted a hat trick to lead the Woodstock Navy Vets over the Wellesley Applejacks, 5-2.

Schneider notched his first tally 8:48 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:00 into the first and at 18:29 into the second.

 

Woodstock put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Wellesley to score on any of its five power plays. The Applejacks were unable to stop the Navy Vets from sending pucks towards the net, and Woodstock eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Woodstock also got points from Justin Elms, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Mike Gillespie also scored for Woodstock. More assists for Woodstock came via Max Coyle, who had four and Austin Richardson and Braden Hutchison, who contributed one each.

Wellesley was helped by Eric Heffernan, who tallied one goal. Heffernan scored 17:21 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Woodstock. Chris Beauchesne assisted on the tally. Wellesley also got a goal from Taylor Doering as well. In addition, Wellesley received assists from Felix Lantaigne, who had two.

The Navy Vets' Michael Roefs stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Woodstock incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Brayden Bruce made 33 saves for the Applejacks on 38 shots. Wellesley incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. For the Applejacks, Justin Lebold was ejected from the game.
